ABOUT ENERGY

THE STORY SO FAR

Energy, the four-piece rock band hailing from the UK, has been a staple in the music industry since its formation in 1976.

Mark Stewart on drums, Mike (Boz) Bosnic on bass, Stevie Fulton on lead vocals and Iain Wetherell on guitar, formed at Samuel Lloyd Comprehensive in Corby, and grew up listening to Thin Lizzy, The Sex Pistols, Status Quo, AC/DC, Queen, Free, The Police, and this helped them carve a unique place in the world of rock music.

The young men left good jobs to go full time with the band and gigged anywhere and everywhere in the UK, honing their craft, building up a large following in the UK, including Americans, whilst playing on US air bases.

Nigel Gray, who produced the first 3 Police albums, saw Energy at the Adlib Club in London, loved what he saw, and signed them to a publishing deal and recorded demos at his Surrey Sound Studios. Nigel invited record companies to a showcase gig but they didn't turn up! This was often the way with record companies - (The Police got signed at a showcase where one record company turned up, in an audience of 3 - luckily they liked them:-)

Mark, left the band to get a "proper job" whilst still playing in "The Contenders" to this day, and Chris "Padge" Page took over on drums for Energy (see note below about Chris.)

Energy toured extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, and the USA, with gigs at prestigious venues such as the Whisky A Go Go's on the Sunset Strip, The Cat Club in New York and The Marquee Club in London.

After a tour in the middle east, Energy showcased for the major record labels at SIR Studios in New York. Despite being on the verge of getting a record deal and recording their first album in the 80s, the band split up, leaving their fans in limbo.

Fast forward 40 years later, and Energy has finally recorded their debut album titled "Rock Party" due to popular demand.

The album is a testament to the band's enduring appeal, and it showcases their raw energy and musical prowess. A breath of fresh air for rock fans in the 2020's where rock guitar music has taken an almighty back seat to computerised, auto tuned, blandness.

Chris "Padge" Page only wanted to do one thing in life - play drums.

Energy were lucky enough to have Padge play with Energy for 7 years.

After Energy (who Chris says is the best band he ever played in (thanks Chris:-) he played with hundreds of artists including Robbie MacIntosh (Paul McCartney, and The Average White Band guitarist, Chris Spedding, and Andy Fraser  from Free.

Padge still gigs down sunny Weymouth way with several bands.

He also passes on his wealth of knowledge to pupils as he teaches drumming.

Energy's music has always been highly sought after, with their vinyl singles from the 80s now fetching as much as £150 or $185 among collectors.

The photo below shows the 7 inch vinyl label from the independent release for Fight For Your Freedom which is now a collectors item - note the "long version on the forthcoming album "Energy"! Only took 40 years for the longer album version to be available!

The band plans to tour the UK in the summer to promote "Rock Party," and it promises to be a musical extravaganza.

Sadly, Energy's bass player, Bozy, passed away in January 2023, but the release of the album will serve as a fitting tribute to a talented musician who loved the band and loved gigging. You can read more about Mike by clicking here

“This Part of Town is a No Go” is probably my favourite song from Energy, as it not only encapsulates the molten hot tonality of the band at their peak performance levels, but moreover, it sums up their approach to songwriting without oversimplifying their inventive style of attack."
